AGRICULTURE PROGRAM

Wooden Hill Farms of Duncannon is proud to be offering a Community Supported Agriculture program (CSA) to the greater Harrisburg metropolitan area.  A CSA program is a wonderful way for you to stay connected to the farmers growing your food.  A CSA works like this: Shareholders sign-up and pay a set amount in the beginning of the season.  Then, shareholders come weekly to the farm to pick up their “share” of the weekly harvest.  Though not certified organic, all vegetables are grown organically, without the use of synthetic chemicals or fertilizers.

THE DETAILS

·     Shareholders will receive 20 shares.  Shares typically run every week beginning the first week of June until the last week in October.

   Shareholders can expect to receive a seasonal mix of vegetables and herbs every week. Vegetables grown on the farm include: lettuce, tomatoes, onions, potatoes, broccoli, eggplant, peppers, watermelons, cucumbers, squash, pumpkins, corn, carrots, and many more!

·     Full and half shares are offered.  Typically, a full share accommodates a family of 4.  Full shares are $450.  Half shares are $250.

·     Pick-ups are offered every week on Thursdays and Fridays at the farm.  In order to ensure that your share is as fresh as possible, please let us know which day works best for you to pick up your share.

·    The share will also include fresh herbs grown in our perennial herb garden.  For more information on what crops will be available when, please visit our What We Grow section.

·     Educational tours of the farm and exciting shareholder picnics will be offered to all shareholders.

·     All vegetables, flowers and herbs are started from seed by Wooden Hill’s Charlton Herczegh, Marley Skinner and Stefanie Zaitz.  

      SHARE PICK-UP LOCATION OPTIONS

       Wooden Hill Farms - Duncannon, PA

     Wooden Hill Farms encourages shareholders to pick-up their shares at the farm.  Instead of prepackaged boxed shares, we run shareholder pick-ups in a farmer's market style setting. The entire harvest will be displayed and shareholders can choose which specific vegetables they'd like, up to the alloted amount.  Shareholders also can opt to make reasonable substitutions to get more of what they really like and less of what they might not use.  

      Espresso Yourself Cafe - Newport, PA

      Convenience with a latte to offer.  We deliver prepackaged boxed shares once a week to Espresso Yourself Cafe in Newport, PA.  This option is great for people who live a bit far for on farm pick-ups but can get to Newport weekly.  Also a great option for local Newport folk who are just super busy each week!
